Neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia mimicking a solid pancreatic tumor
Main Article Content
Abstract
Pancreatic endocrine cell hyperplasia is defined as an increase in the number of cells of Langerhans islets and can sometimes mimic a tumoral process. Case report: a male patient with a symptomatic solid tail of pancreas tumor underwent laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy and splenectomy. The pathological examination reported neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia. Conclusion: pancreatic endocrine cell hyperplasia should be considered in the differential diagnosis of solid pancreatic tumors.
Laparoscopic surgery is feasible when the preoperative diagnosis with imaging tests of biopsy is not possible.
