Appendiceal endometriosis as a cause of chronic abdominal pain and appendiceal mass
Main Article Content
Abstract
We report the case of a female patient in childbearing age with chronic pain and a history of pelvic endometriosis. The image tests showed the presence of a mass at the level of the cecal appendix.
The patient underwent a scheduled diagnostic laparoscopy and the appendiceal tumor was resected.
The pathological examination revealed appendiceal endometriosis. We performed a review of the literature and made considerations about its prevalence, clinical presentation, interoperative findings, diagnostic tests and therapeutic management.
