Benign multicystic peritoneal mesothelioma

Abstract

Benign multicystic peritoneal mesothelioma (BMPM) is a rare peritoneal tumor characterized by multiple cystic lesions in the peritoneal and pelvic cavity. It mainly affects women of childbearing age and is associated with risk factors as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease and prior abdominal surgery.
We report two clinical cases of women of childbearing age with intraoperative diagnosis of BMPM, with a description of their history, type of treatment chosen and postoperative follow-up.
